Massey Ranch is a 250 cow desert ranch located near Wickett, Texas on Interstate 20, about 35 miles west of Odessa, Texas. The Hereford herd consists of about 30 cows. The rest of the cattle are commercial crossbred cows. Both Hereford and Angus bulls are used on the commercial herd. The ranch has been in the Massey's family since 1917 and was originally established by pioneer ranchman G. W. O'Brien. The Massey family has been in Hereford business since establishment of the ranch and the registered Hereford business since 1963. The most recent generation, Garrett Floyd and Kim Wilson, are active Junior Hereford Association members, showing heifers. Massey Ranch successfully exhibits a show string at many open shows.. Blood lines of the cow herd are predominately Keynote 20X, Online, Hunter, Line One, Kodiak Victor Domino, Basic Galaxy, Devo, Avalanche Neon, Churchill Lady, Moler, Channing, and Victor Boomer. Herd sires are DM Online 439, GH Adams Target 5S and Star 26P Hemi 413S ET. AI sires are CRR D03 Shiner 420 ET and UPS TCC Nitro 1ET.
